Job Summary:

The Finance Manager will lead and oversee all financial operations, reporting, planning, and control activities of Tanit Engineering. A key element of this role is to ensure the effective use and configuration of the Odoo ERP system in supporting accounting, financial planning, audit, controls, and management reporting. The Finance Manager will act as a strategic partner to the senior management, ensuring financial discipline, compliance, and insightful decision support.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Manage daily operations of the finance function: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, payroll, cash management.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS / Nigerian GAAP / company policy.
  • Produce variance analysis / performance reports vs budget, and provide commentary on deviations and trends.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Cash flow management: optimize working capital, forecast cash needs, manage treasury functions.
  • Oversee tax compliance, filings, withholding, VAT/GST, and other statutory compliance.
  • Ensure that accounting policies, internal controls, processes, and systems are robust and complied with.

Odoo ERP / Systems & Process Leadership

  • Lead the implementation, configuration, optimization, and continuous improvement of Odoo modules related to finance (accounting, analytic accounting, budgets, cost centers, etc.).
  • Map business requirements to Odoo configuration, and customize (or coordinate with developers) where necessary.
  • Design and automate financial workflows and reporting procedures within Odoo.
  • Ensure correct data mapping, interfaces, migrations, and integrity across modules (procurement, sales, inventory, projects) that impact financials.
  • Train accounting and finance staff on Odoo usage and best practices.
  • Provide support, troubleshooting, and enhancements to the ERP system as business evolves.

Strategic & Advisory Role

  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decisions, investments, cost management, pricing, and growth plans.
  • Participate in business case evaluation for new projects, capital expenditure / asset purchases, partnerships, and new lines.
  • Drive cost rationalization, margin improvement, profitability analysis by product / business unit.
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, procurement, projects, supply chain, etc., to ensure alignment of financial goals with operational execution.

Audit, Risk & Controls

  • Coordinate internal and external audits; ensure timely provision of schedules, data, and explanations.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce internal control frameworks, segregation of duties, and process compliance.
  • Identify financial risks (currency, credit, liquidity) and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and industry norms.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a small team of accountants, analysts, and finance assistants.
  • Set performance objectives, monitor progress, and provide feedback.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, continuous improvement, and high performance.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master's degree or professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA) preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant finance / accounting experience; at least 5 years managing a finance team.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Odoo ERP (implementation, configuration, module customization) is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS, local GAAP), tax regulations, and regulatory compliance in Nigeria or relevant jurisdictions.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret financial data into actionable insights.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present to senior management.
  • Experience liaising with auditors, tax authorities, regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to lead change, drive process improvements, and manage cross-functional projects.
  • High integrity, ethical standards, and ability to manage sensitive financial information confidentially.

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Exposure to engineering, construction, or healthcare / medical equipment industry would be advantageous (Tanit is in medical engineering / hospital development).
  • Experience with multi-currency accounting, project accounting, cost allocation across projects.
  • Familiarity with project management tools / modules within Odoo (especially if Tanit runs projects / contracts).
  • Knowledge of procurement, inventory, operations modules and their financial impacts.
  • Strong IT acumen ability to work with developers, data migrations, integrations (e.g. with CRM, inventory).
