Job Description

  • The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mechanical equipment, utilities, and production systems within the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
  • The role ensures equipment availability, safety, efficiency, and compliance with GMP, SOPs, EHS requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical faults and equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
  • Maintain and repair pharmaceutical production equipment, including mixers, granulators, tablet presses, capsule machines, coating machines, packing equipment, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical systems.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation of new equipment and machinery.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and productivity.
  • Conduct routine inspection of machines, mechanical systems, pipelines, pumps, valves, bearings, gearboxes, and other components.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, work orders, and technical reports.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with approved SOPs, GMP, and safety procedures.
  • Participate in equipment breakdown analysis, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Assist in developing and reviewing preventive maintenance schedules and checklists.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional engineering certification or relevant membership is an added advantage.
  • 5 - 10 years of relevant experience, preferably within pharmaceutical, FMCG, manufacturing environments.
  • Practical experience in industrial equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with GMP-regulated manufacturing equipment is highly desirable.
