Reporting Line: Inventory & Warehouse Manager
Job Purpose
The Inventory & Warehouse Assistant will support the effective management of stock and day-to-day warehouse activities by ensuring that inventory is properly received, recorded, stored, handled, counted, and prepared for dispatch.
The role requires a high level of accuracy, integrity, physical readiness, and adherence to established inventory control procedures. The successful candidate will contribute directly to inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, stock security, and efficient order fulfilment.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Receive, inspect, count, and document incoming inventory accurately.
Verify received items against relevant documentation and promptly report discrepancies.
Ensure all received products are properly recorded and stored in their designated locations.
Record and update all stock movements, including receipts, transfers, issues, returns, and dispatches.
Assist with periodic stock counts, cycle counts, and full physical inventory exercises.
Support inventory reconciliation and escalate discrepancies for investigation and resolution.
Monitor stock condition and promptly report shortages, damages, missing items, or other irregularities.
Ensure proper identification, labelling, classification, and arrangement of inventory.
Warehouse Operations:
Organize warehouse shelves and ensure products are stored systematically for easy identification and retrieval.
Maintain a clean, safe, secure, and orderly warehouse environment.
Load, offload, move, arrange, and retrieve inventory safely within the warehouse.
Pick and prepare products accurately based on approved orders or dispatch instructions.
Pack and stage products appropriately for dispatch and delivery.
Support timely product dispatch and delivery activities.
Handle ICT products and other company inventory carefully to minimize damage, loss, or misplacement.
Ensure warehouse equipment, shelves, storage areas, and workspaces are maintained in good order.
Follow all applicable warehouse safety and handling procedures.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
Prepare, maintain, and file inventory, warehouse, and logistics documentation.
Ensure every stock movement is supported by the appropriate documentation.
Maintain accurate records of stock received, issued, transferred, returned, or dispatched.
Assist in preparing inventory reports and reconciliation schedules as required.
Provide accurate information during stock verification, audits, and reconciliation exercises.
Immediately escalate any suspected stock loss, unauthorized movement, documentation irregularity, or control breach to the Inventory & Warehouse Manager.
Inventory Control & Compliance:
Strictly comply with the company's inventory management and warehouse operating procedures.
Ensure no inventory is released, transferred, or moved without proper authorization and documentation.
Support the implementation of stock control measures designed to prevent loss, damage, misplacement, and unauthorized movement of company property.
Maintain confidentiality regarding company inventory, stock levels, pricing, customer orders, and other operational information.
Cooperate with internal audit, stock verification, and management review activities.
Promptly report any operational risk or control weakness identified within the warehouse.
General Operational Support:
Support the Inventory & Warehouse Officers in maintaining efficient daily warehouse operations.
Assist other relevant departments with approved inventory-related activities where required.
Maintain punctuality and readiness for assigned warehouse duties.
Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Inventory & Warehouse officers in support of business operations.
Requirements
Candidates should possess an OND, HND, or B.Sc. in any relevant discipline.
Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in inventory, warehouse, logistics, storekeeping, or a related operational role is an advantage.
Basic understanding of inventory management and warehouse operations.
Good record-keeping and documentation skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in repetitive operational tasks.
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and follow established procedures.
Physically fit and capable of carrying out warehouse activities, including lifting and moving inventory safely.
Basic computer literacy is required.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Honest, dependable, punctual, disciplined, and willing to learn.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Must reside in Ikeja or nearby areas and be able to commute reliably to the workplace.
Candidates who have completed their education and are available for long-term employment will be given preference.
