The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigeria nationals for the positions below at the Institute's Headquarters in Ibadan.
Duties
Manage daily operations of utility systems (diesel generators, solar panels, electrical distribution, water treatment and supply, waste water management, etc.).
Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance and repair of utility equipment and infrastructure with utility technicians and external service providers.
Monitor and analyze utility consumption data (electricity, water, fuel) to identify trends and implement conservation measures.
Develop and manage budgets for utility operations and coordinate procurement of fuel, chemicals, and spare parts.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations related to utility operations (e.g., emission standards, water quality standards).
Prepare and maintain documentation for utility assets, maintenance records, and regulatory permits.
Respond to utility emergencies (power outages, equipment failures) and coordinate rapid resolution to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with capital projects to plan integration of new utility infrastructure and upgrades (e.g., expanding power generation capacity).
Liaise with external utility providers and contractors for technical services and negotiate service agreements when required.
Identify opportunities for renewable energy and sustainable practices in utility management to support FMS environmental goals.
Any other responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Possession of NATE or COREN certification is required, along with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in the management and maintenance of electrical distribution systems, household appliances, power generation equipment and machinery, water production facilities, and general utility infrastructure systems.
