he State-Based Program Officer (SBPO) leads Extension Africa's donor-funded development work in Bauchi State turning work plans into field activity, training farmers and extension agents, driving adoption of climate-smart and digital extension practices, and maintaining data quality and reporting against the project's results framework.
The role also links development to commerce: the SBPO builds and certifies the last-mile rural structure (FBAs, farmers, and vendors) for verified handover to the Commercial Arm's State Sales Team via the Agent Processing Centre (APC). Residency within Bauchi State is compulsory.
Requirements
B.Sc Degree / HND in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Agronomy, Crop/Soil Science, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or a related field
3 - 5 years of progressive experience in agricultural or rural development projects (NGO/donor-funded preferred)
Hands-on experience with climate-smart agriculture and ICT4Ag tools
Direct work with smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and government structures at state/LGA level
Experience with digital data collection tools (ODK, KoboCollect, MS Excel)
Experience recruiting or managing community-level agents or field networks is an advantage
Fluency in English and the predominant local language of Benue State
Must be resident in or willing to relocate to Bauchi State
