KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop detailed project execution plans, work programmes and construction schedules.
Plan and coordinate project mobilisation and ensure readiness before commencement of work.
Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities across assigned project sites.
Coordinate Site Engineers, Builders, Supervisors, Artisans, contractors and other project personnel.
Monitor project progress against approved schedules, milestones and daily work plans.
Ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and engineering standards.
Identify project delays, operational challenges and resource constraints and implement appropriate corrective actions.
Conduct daily site inspections, coordination meetings and toolbox meetings.
Monitor the deployment and utilisation of labour, equipment, materials and other project resources.
Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and identify potential cost overruns.
Coordinate construction material and resource requirements with Procurement and Logistics.
Control material usage, minimise waste and promote efficient resource utilisation.
Conduct routine quality inspections and ensure compliance with approved quality standards.
Coordinate testing, inspections and corrective actions where required.
Maintain appropriate project quality and construction documentation.
Enforce Company HSE policies and ensure strict compliance with safety requirements on site.
Monitor safety practices and immediately report accidents, incidents and unsafe conditions.
Coordinate contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Provide regular and accurate project updates to the Director of Construction.
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual project performance reports.
Maintain project risk registers and develop recovery plans for delayed or underperforming projects.
Monitor contractor and consultant performance and escalate issues requiring management intervention.
Recommend practical technical and operational solutions to project challenges.
Ensure assigned projects achieve approved milestones, quality standards, productivity targets and delivery expectations.
Drive continuous improvement in construction methods, productivity, resource management and project delivery.
AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY
The Construction Project Manager will have authority to:
Direct daily construction activities on assigned projects.
Allocate project resources within approved plans and delegated authority.
Issue operational instructions to project personnel.
Recommend technical and operational solutions to project challenges.
Stop or suspend unsafe work pending appropriate corrective action.
Escalate significant project risks, delays, quality concerns and cost issues to the Director of Construction.
The role will operate within the Company's approved delegation of authority and will not independently approve changes to project scope, contractual terms or capital expenditure beyond authorised limits.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a competent and experienced construction professional with a proven track record of successfully managing construction projects from mobilisation through completion.
The ideal candidate should have:
7 - 10 years of relevant construction and project management experience.
Strong experience in construction project planning, coordination and execution.
Proven experience managing construction sites and multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong knowledge of construction schedules, work programmes and project controls.
Experience in residential construction, estate development and/or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and engineering standards.
Excellent knowledge of quality assurance and quality control processes.
Strong HSE awareness and experience enforcing safety standards on construction sites.
Experience monitoring project costs, resources, labour and material utilisation.
Strong contractor, consultant and stakeholder coordination skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong reporting, documentation and project monitoring skills.
Ability to identify project risks, delays and operational challenges and drive corrective action.
Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
High level of accountability, discipline, integrity and professionalism.

THE SCALE OF THE ROLE
This is more than a traditional site supervision position.
The Construction Project Manager will play a critical role in translating approved construction plans into actual project delivery, ensuring that assigned projects move efficiently from planning and mobilisation through execution and completion.
