Job Summary

  • The Risk & Compliance Officer will be responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating business and operational risks while ensuring that the Group's activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and industry standards.
  • The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening internal controls, protecting company and investor interests, supporting regulatory compliance, and promoting a strong culture of risk awareness across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, document, and monitor financial, operational, regulatory, and business risks across the Group.
  • Develop and maintain effective risk management and compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Conduct periodic compliance and operational risk assessments.
  • Review business processes and recommend appropriate internal controls to minimise risk and potential losses.
  • Monitor transactions, collections, repayments, and other financial activities for unusual or potentially risky patterns.
  • Support risk management around hire-purchase, vehicle financing, asset management, investor funds, and driver operations.
  • Ensure proper documentation and adherence to approved processes for customer, investor, driver, and business transactions.
  • Conduct compliance reviews, internal audits, and control checks where required.
  • Identify control weaknesses, investigate incidents, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date risk register and monitor the implementation of risk mitigation plans.
  • Prepare periodic risk and compliance reports for management.
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, and other compliance-related engagements.
  • Promote compliance awareness and provide guidance/training to employees on relevant policies and procedures.
  • Monitor third-party/vendor risks and ensure appropriate due diligence is conducted.
  • Escalate significant risks, breaches, suspicious activities, and compliance issues to management promptly.
  • Stay informed about changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry requirements that may affect the Group.
  • Support the development of business continuity, fraud prevention, and incident management processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in risk management, compliance, internal audit, financial services, fintech, investment, or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, internal controls, compliance, and corporate governance.
  • Experience in identifying and mitigating operational and financial risks.
  • Good knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements within the Nigerian business/financial environment.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or control gaps.
  • Strong report-writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant analytical/reporting tools.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN, CISI, or relevant risk/compliance certification will be an added advantage.
