Overview

  • FMR Agency is recruiting a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to support the procurement and supply operations of a fast-paced supermarket.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing products, managing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, and ensuring the timely availability of inventory to support daily business operations.
  • This role is ideal for someone with hands-on supermarket purchasing experience and a strong understanding of the Lagos supplier market.
  • Ultimately, you will ensure products are procured efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with the company's inventory and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase products required for supermarket operations while maintaining quality and cost standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings.
  • Monitor inventory requirements and collaborate with the inventory team to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Identify new suppliers and evaluate vendor performance regularly.
  • Prepare purchase orders and maintain accurate procurement documentation.
  • Verify deliveries against purchase orders and resolve supply-related discrepancies.
  • Monitor market trends and recommend alternative products or suppliers where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with internal purchasing procedures and company policies.
  • Prepare regular purchasing reports and perform other duties assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of OND in Business Administration, Purchasing & Supply, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline with a minimum of 3 years' experience in purchasing or procurement within a supermarket or retail environment.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing a wide range of supermarket products and managing supplier relationships.
  • Good knowledge of the Lagos supplier market and commercial areas.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple purchasing activities effectively.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Lekki, Lagos.

Experience managing industrial purchasing cycles and engaging with multi-level buyer relationships (procurement, R&D, production). Skills & Competencies: Strong B2B consultative selling and key account management skills.
