About the Role
American Christian Academy is seeking a caring, compassionate, and clinically experienced Relief Residential Nurse to provide nursing coverage and continuity of healthcare services for students in the school's residential programme.
The Relief Residential Nurse will step in when the regular Nurse is unavailable and will be responsible for providing appropriate student health care, first aid, medication administration, health monitoring, emergency response, and health-related support during assigned periods of duty.
The successful candidate will work closely with the school nurses, residential staff, students, parents, school leadership, and relevant healthcare professionals to ensure students receive safe, responsive, and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide nursing coverage for residential students during assigned relief periods.
Conduct appropriate health assessments and monitor students presenting with illness, injury, or other health concerns.
Provide first aid and appropriate care for minor injuries and illnesses.
Administer and manage prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with medical instructions and school procedures.
Maintain accurate records of student visits, treatments, medications, outcomes, and required follow-up.
Monitor students' health and wellbeing and escalate concerns appropriately to the residential parents and nurses.
Support emergency response and crisis intervention for injuries, illness, and other medical emergencies.
Support the prevention and management of communicable diseases through appropriate health monitoring, early detection, reporting, and preventive measures.
Assess students returning to school following an extended absence due to communicable illness, in accordance with school procedures.
Provide appropriate health information and guidance to students and residential staff.
Promote healthy habits, including good hygiene, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices.
Maintain confidentiality when handling student health and personal information.
Ensure appropriate handover and communication with the regular Nurse to maintain continuity of care.
Participate in residential safety and emergency procedures as required.
Perform other duties reasonably assigned by the school.

Professional Qualifications
Must be a Registered and Certified Nurse with valid professional credentials.
Previous clinical nursing experience is required.
Experience working with children, adolescents, schools, residential programmes, or similar settings will be an advantage.
Knowledge and experience in first aid, health assessment, medication administration, preventive health, and referral procedures.
Ability to maintain accurate, confidential, and timely health records.
Must reside in Ibadan. Applicants outside Ibadan need not apply
Relief Nurse Availability
As this is a relief position, the successful candidate must:
Be available to provide nursing cover when required (which will be Saturday evenings to Monday mornings)
Be able to work assigned residential shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, or other periods as scheduled.
Provide reasonable flexibility to cover planned absences and, where possible, unexpected nursing coverage needs.
Ensure proper handover and continuity of care at the end of each relief assignment.
