Main Function

  • To provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients, including assessment, triage, treatment, hospitalization care, emergency support, patient education, and medical transfers, while coordinating with other healthcare units and ensuring compliance with nursing, HSE, and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient reception, primary assessment, triage, and appropriate first-line interventions.
  • Coordinate patient flow during after-hours services, including consultation, investigations, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Provide nursing care for minor ailments, wounds, and other routine medical conditions.
  • Initiate appropriate care for minor and major medical or surgical emergencies pending arrival of a senior clinician.
  • Provide comprehensive nursing and psychological care to hospitalized patients.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Participate in patient medical transfers and escorts to designated retainer hospitals when required.
  • Support preventive healthcare programmes, including immunization and health education activities.
  • Monitor and contribute to improving standards within treatment and hospitalization areas.
  • Educate patients and dependents on appropriate health and preventive care practices.
  • Maintain accurate nursing records and contribute to the collation and analysis of OPD and hospitalization data.
  • Supervise, train, and provide guidance to auxiliary and ancillary staff.
  • Liaise with Radiology, Laboratory, Pharmacy, OPD, MCH, Emergency, and other medical units to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain good communication between patients, doctors, nurses, and other clinic personnel.
  • Identify potential clinical or operational problems and escalate serious issues promptly to the Head Nurse or attending doctor.
  • Maintain and update professional nursing knowledge and clinical competencies.
  • Apply the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in patient care.
  • Comply with patient safety, infection prevention, hygiene, medical waste management, and HSE requirements.
  • Familiarize self with and participate in applicable emergency response procedures.
  • Report incidents, unsafe acts, hazards, and operational concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in support of Medical Division objectives.

Job Requirements

  • B.Sc. Nursing, BNSc, or equivalent recognized nursing qualification.
  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid practising licence.
  • Registered Midwife and/or Registered Accident & Emergency Nurse is an added advantage.
  • Valid BLS, ACLS, and ITLS certifications.
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Relevant clinical/hospital nursing experience is preferred.
