The Network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, security, and reliability of the organisation's network infrastructure across all sites. The role owns the network layer end-to-end from wireless access and IP addressing to firewall administration and surveillance network uptime and works closely with the SOC team to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities across the network estate.
This is a dedicated, full-time technical role reporting to the Technical Lead, distinct from the Datacenter Engineering function.
The Network Administrator will report directly to the Technical Lead, IT & Innovation, who will provide hands-on mentorship and operational support during onboarding and beyond. This reporting line is designed to give the role clear ownership of network administration duties while keeping close coordination with the Datacenter Engineering
Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Management Administer, monitor, and maintain the organisation's core and site-level network infrastructure to ensure consistent uptime and performance across all locations.
Security Collaboration with SOC Work directly with the Security Operations Centre (SOC) team to analyse Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) affecting network infrastructure and coordinate timely patching and remediation.
Access Point (AP) Management Deploy, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot all wireless Access Points across sites to ensure reliable and secure wireless connectivity.
IP Address Management (IPAM) Maintain the organisation's IP addressing scheme, allocate and track IP address usage, and prevent conflicts across the network.
VLAN Administration Design, configure, and maintain VLAN segmentation across switches and sites to ensure proper network isolation, security, and traffic management.
Camera / Surveillance Network Management Manage the network infrastructure supporting all CCTV/camera systems, ensuring connectivity, uptime, and secure access for surveillance operations.
Firewall Administration (Sophos) Configure, monitor, and maintain Sophos Firewalls across the HUB, FifthLab, Arena, and Castew buildings, including rule management, VPN configuration, and security policy enforcement.
Documentation & Reporting Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, IP/VLAN registers, and firewall configuration records; provide regular status reports to the Technical Lead.
Incident Response Investigate and resolve network-related incidents (connectivity loss, security alerts, device lockouts) promptly, escalating to the Technical Lead where required.

Bachelor's degree / HND in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 - 4 years' hands-on experience in network administration, ideally across multi-site environments.
Working knowledge of Sophos Firewall administration (or equivalent enterprise firewall platforms).
Solid understanding of VLANs, IP addressing/subnetting, and wireless Access Point management.
Familiarity with vulnerability management concepts and experience collaborating with a SOC or security team on CVE remediation.
Relevant certifications an advantage: CCNA, CompTIA Network+/Security+, Sophos certifications, or equivalent.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills under operational pressure.
Good documentation habits and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently across multiple sites while maintaining clear communication with the Technical Lead.
Security-conscious mindset with an understanding of network hardening best practices.
Effective collaborator works cross-functionally with SOC and Datacenter Engineering without duplicating effort.
