Hold and secure the laboratory room keys and administer authorized biometric access in accordance with hospital policy.
Arrange and document temporary access for scheduled workshops, faculty, residents, and visiting groups; maintain an accurate access list and promptly remove access that is no longer required.
Open, secure, and close the laboratory as needed for approved activities, and promptly report any access concern, loss, damage, or security incident.
Ensure that equipment and consumables do not leave the laboratory without documented authorization and a clear return plan.
Equipment, Inventory, and Repairs
Maintain a current master inventory of cameras, monitors, instruments, trainers, recording equipment, accessories, consumables, and other laboratory assets, including identification number, condition, location, and service status where applicable.
Keep equipment organized, labeled, clean, securely stored, and ready for use.
Complete daily equipment checks; perform safe first-line operational troubleshooting within training and authority and escalate technical or clinical concerns promptly.
Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair, vendor or biomedical support; track unresolved repairs to completion.
Monitor consumable levels and anticipated demand, and submit restocking or replacement needs early enough to prevent avoidable training interruption.
Scheduling and Training-Group Preparation
Maintain the authoritative laboratory schedule and confirm bookings before communicating them to users; prevent double-booking and identify conflicts early.
Maintain and update the visiting-groups calendar. Contact each expected group at least monthly, and again as needed, to confirm dates, participant numbers, training objectives, faculty, equipment, specimen, recording, and access requirements.
Coordinate the lab schedule with faculty and residents.
Prepare training stations, instruments, consumables, checklists, sign-in materials, audiovisual systems, and other materials before each session or workshop.
Support training trips and off-site projects by preparing documented equipment and materials, confirming transport and return arrangements, and reconciling all items after the activity.
Attendance, Training Records, and Video Management
Maintain complete and accurate attendance and sign-in records for all laboratory sessions, workshops, and visiting groups.
Label, organize, quality-check, and upload training videos to the designated system promptly; maintain an index of uploaded recordings.
Protect training records and videos from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss, and follow approved retention and deletion processes.
Maintain learner progress records required by the LAPP program and provide accurate data for reports and program review.
Specimens, Cleanliness, and Safe Practice
Coordinate approved logistics for animal organs or other specimens used in training, including timing, quantity, transport, receipt, storage, preparation, and availability for the scheduled session.
Follow hospital requirements for infection prevention, personal protective equipment, biological-material handling, decontamination, waste segregation, and disposal; obtain guidance when requirements are unclear.
Maintain laboratory cleanliness, orderly work surfaces, and good laboratory practice before, during, and after all activities.
Perform daily checks to confirm that equipment, sharps, specimens, waste, and surfaces have been handled safely and that the laboratory is ready for the next group/session.
Learner and Faculty Support
Develop and maintain practical competence in the laboratory's laparoscopic skills, equipment setup, simulation tasks, assessment tools, and training workflow under designated faculty guidance.
Orient every participant to the LAPP program and skills laboratory before training, including program objectives, laboratory access and layout, equipment-handling expectations, safety and cleanliness procedures, recording requirements, and participan
Enroll each participant in the LAPP program.
Observe training activity videos and provide timely, specific, actionable, and respectful feedback to faculty and residents using LAPP objectives, checklists, and proficiency standards.
Distinguish operational and skills-lab feedback from independent clinical judgment; refer clinical questions, disputed assessments, or significant learner concerns to the responsible faculty member or Medical Education Programs Coordinator.
Collect feedback from users and recommend practical improvements to lab flow, equipment readiness, training materials, data quality, and learner experience.
Reporting
Submit a weekly report to the Medical Education Programs Coordinator covering sessions completed and planned, learner training progress, attendance, inventory status, consumable needs, equipment downtime or repairs, incidents, unresolved risks, and a
Submit a monthly report on LAPP projects and trips, including activities completed, participants, outcomes, equipment and materials used, unresolved issues, lessons learned, and the next month's planned activities.
Notify the Medical Education Programs Coordinator immediately of significant equipment loss or damage, access or confidentiality breaches, safety incidents, specimen-handling concerns, or any issue likely to cancel or materially disrupt training.
