The Dispensing Officer is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications.
The role involves verifying prescriptions, preparing medications, maintaining accurate records, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and company policies while providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, review, and process prescriptions for accuracy and completeness.
Dispense medications according to approved prescriptions and standard operating procedures.
Label medications correctly with dosage instructions, warnings, and patient information.
Counsel patients or customers on the proper use, dosage, storage, and possible side effects of medications, where appropriate.
Maintain accurate dispensing records and patient profiles.
Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and storing pharmaceutical products.
Ensure proper storage conditions for medicines, including temperature-sensitive products.
Check medication expiry dates and remove expired or damaged products from stock.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dispensing area.
Ensure compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP), company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, or quality concerns promptly.
Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to resolve prescription-related issues.
Participate in regular stock counts and inventory audits.
Maintain confidentiality of patient and company information.

Qualifications
OND, HND, Diploma in pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, or a related health science field with 2-6 years experience
Valid professional registration or license (where required by local regulations).
Previous experience in pharmacy dispensing is an added advantage.
