The Assistant Fleet Manager supports the Fleet Manager in the effective management, maintenance, utilisation, and monitoring of the company's fleet of vehicles.
The role ensures that vehicles are available, roadworthy, properly maintained, and efficiently utilised to support the company's operations.
Roles and Responsibilities
Support the Fleet Manager in the day-to-day management of the company's fleet.
Monitor vehicle availability, utilisation, movement, and operational status.
Coordinate routine servicing, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance of vehicles.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, fuel consumption, mileage, and associated costs.
Monitor drivers' compliance with approved routes, schedules, safety procedures, and company policies.
Coordinate vehicle allocation for dispatch, staff transportation, field operations, and other business activities.
Monitor vehicle tracking systems and investigate unauthorised or unusual vehicle movements.
Ensure vehicles are properly documented, licensed, insured, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Follow up on vehicle breakdowns, accidents, repairs, and other fleet-related incidents and escalate where necessary.
Monitor fuel consumption and identify unusual usage or opportunities for cost reduction.
Support the development and implementation of fleet maintenance and replacement plans.
Liaise with workshops, service providers, insurance companies, and other external fleet vendors.
Prepare regular reports on fleet availability, maintenance, utilisation, fuel consumption, costs, and incidents.
Assist in enforcing safe driving practices and promoting vehicle and driver safety.
Identify operational gaps and recommend improvements to fleet efficiency and cost management.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned by Management.

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or HND in Transport Management, Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in fleet management, transportation, logistics, or a related role.
Experience managing commercial or operational vehicles will be an advantage.
Experience in FMCG, agriculture, poultry, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment is desirable.
