Role Overview

• We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong expertise in C# and .NET to design, build and maintain scalable backend systems and services.
• The ideal candidate has experience building production-grade applications and APIs and understands how to develop systems that are reliable, secure and maintainable.
• You should be comfortable taking ownership of backend solutions from system design through development, testing and deployment.
• The role requires strong problem-solving skills, sound technical judgment and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers, product teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and services using C# and .NET.
• Take ownership of backend solutions from requirements gathering and system design through development, testing and deployment.
• Build clean, maintainable and well-tested code that follows established engineering standards and best practices.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs and services that support internal and external applications.
• Work with relational and non-relational databases to build reliable and efficient data solutions.
• Participate in system architecture and design discussions and make sound technical decisions based on project requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex application and production issues and identify and resolve their root causes.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to maintain high engineering standards.
• Improve existing systems to enhance performance, reliability, security and maintainability.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices to support efficient and reliable software delivery.
• Integrate backend services with third-party systems, APIs and other applications where required.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for applications, services and system architecture.
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams and clients to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical guidance where required.
• Participate in technical interviews and client-facing technical discussions.
• Take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables while meeting agreed timelines and quality standards.
• Work effectively with remote and distributed engineering teams across different time zones.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Strong professional experience with C# and .NET.
• Strong experience with ASP.NET Core and Web API.
• Proven experience designing and building production-grade backend applications and services.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles and design patterns.
• Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Strong experience working with relational databases and SQL. Experience with NoSQL databases is an advantage.
• Good understanding of authentication, authorisation and API security.
• Experience with unit and integration testing.
• Experience using Git and working with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience deploying and maintaining backend applications in a cloud environment.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and scalable system design.
• Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into practical backend solutions.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical deliverables.
• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Comfortable working with remote teams and collaborating across different time zones.
