The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the school, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and providing financial guidance and support to the school administration.
- Manage the school's budget, including preparing and monitoring financial plans and forecasts.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Accounting and Bookkeeping:
- Prepare and process financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Financial Analysis and Planning:
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Provide financial guidance and support to the school administration, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure effective financial management.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws, and standards.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, including ensuring adequate insurance coverage.
- Develop and implement internal controls to ensure accurate and secure financial transactions.
Audits and Financial Reporting:
- Prepare for and respond to audits, including providing financial documentation and information.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including preparing and submitting financial reports to relevant authorities.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Prepare and manage the school's budget, including developing and implementing budget plans.
- Forecast financial performance, including identifying areas for improvement.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Provide financial guidance and support to the school administration, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Communicate financial information to stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and the school community.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective financial management.
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field. For senior positions, an M.Sc. or MBA is an added advantage.
- At least 4-6 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a school or non-profit setting.
- Progress towards a recognized professional qualification is a strong advantage. For senior positions, must be fully certified.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and laws. Proven capacity in budgeting, cash flow forecasting, internal audit controls etc.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero, and specialized school management systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
- Will require occasional evening or weekend work to meet deadlines.
