About the QA Lead role

  • The Quality Engineering team is the standard-bearer and expert on how end-to-end tests are run across the Paystack platform.
  • We design and maintain the infrastructure and tooling for repeatable, reliable testing; ensure essential use cases across all channels API, Dashboard, mobile, POS) are covered; and act as consultants and enablers who help every engineering team test effectively.
  • As QA Lead, you will be the driving force behind our overall quality and automation strategy.
  • You will lead a small, high-calibre team of QA and automation engineers, set the direction for how we test across the platform, and make sure the right tests, tooling, and environments are in place and running reliably.
  • You will balance hands-on technical leadership with people leadership, and work closely with engineering leaders to align quality goals with the broader engineering roadmap.
  • This is a full-time position.

  • Own and drive the overall quality and test automation strategy across the platform
  • Ensure the appropriate tests, tooling, infrastructure, and environments are in place and running reliably
  • Set standards for test architecture, frameworks, and test data management, and review them across products
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of QA and automation engineers, including regular 11s, hiring, and onboarding
  • Align the team's goals with overall engineering goals and prioritise work accordingly
  • Increase the visibility of quality by reporting on coverage, pipeline health, blockers, and impact to stakeholders
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to embed testing earlier in the development lifecycle
  • Act as a consultant and enabler, giving teams the guidance they need to implement effective end-to-end testing
  • Represent Quality Engineering in cross-functional planning and technical design reviews
