Role Purpose

The Production Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring day-to-day production operations to ensure delivery against set targets and standards, while supervising Shift Managers and coordinating WBI inspections.

Role Responsibilities

  • Within the framework of the production instructions given by the Production Manager, take charge of all operational activities from raw material feed bins, raw grinding, clinker production and cement grinding through to cement dispatch, ensuring that activities are carried out safely and in accordance with quality control procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Serve as the main interface between Maintenance, Quality, Quarry and Process in the core operations phase.
  • Lead SAP production execution and Production Month-End Closing (MEC) in the plant and be in charge of production raw material inventory.
  • Promote site best safety practices and efforts throughout the plant.
  • Operate and optimise all aspects of raw mix/additive transport, feed proportioning, raw mill and kiln systems in compliance with Company product quality standards and requirements.
  • Analyse, review and report the monthly/yearly requirements for raw mix, correctives and additives to ensure stable clinker production and cement grinding as per target, taking equipment short- and long-term maintenance into consideration.
  • Properly follow up with inspectors and patrollers on daily Walk-by Inspection checklists and equipment maintenance history, with a view to improving overall equipment reliability.
  • Coordinate equipment operating logistics with Quality, Maintenance and Process departments.
  • Optimise and assist in troubleshooting plant circuits where required to improve equipment availability.
  • Prioritise work orders with the Maintenance Department and ensure that maintenance activities are carried out using the right procedures and standards (Risk Assessment, WAH, EI, etc.).
  • Recommend disciplinary measures when required.
  • Identify areas that require the development of Standard Operating Procedures for the Production Department.
  • Lead plant improvement initiatives and participate in the planning and organisation of short- and long-term plant stoppages to improve reliability.
  • Effectively monitor the performance of contractors in Production, with clearly defined KPIs.
  • Assist in the operational and safety training of current and new employees.
  • Assist in the development of the Production Departmental budget.
  • Coordinate all interventions in case of breakdowns.
  • Take over direct responsibility for the control of the Raw Mills, Kilns and Cement Grinding equipment in complicated situations.
  • Guarantee adherence to the planned consumption of electrical power.
  • Oversee Shift Leaders/CCR operations and provide instructions on required areas of concentration.
  • Control production activities to comply with Group environmental standards and maintain good housekeeping.

People Management

  • Define team objectives and conduct performance reviews, promoting team motivation, skills and development through coaching.
  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to all direct and indirect reports.
  • Develop and propose training plans for the team and ensure they are relevant to career development.
  • Encourage teamwork to ensure the continuous flow of operations.
  • Appraise direct reports based on set KPIs.

Requirements

Critical Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of cement manufacturing processes, including:
  • Raw meal preparation, burning, combustion, grinding and packing operations.
  • Good knowledge of safety laws and regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of production management and planning.

Critical Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant post-graduation work experience.

Educational Qualification and Other Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any Engineering discipline or any Science-based discipline.
