The Procurement Officer manages the end-to-end procurement of telecom equipment, materials, and related project requirements, from identifying and evaluating suppliers to negotiating commercial terms, processing purchase orders, and coordinating deliveries. The role ensures that procurement activities align with project requirements, approved budgets, technical specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines, while maintaining effective supplier relationships and supporting the successful execution of telecom infrastructure projects.
Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Identify and evaluate suppliers relevant to telecom infrastructure needs, both locally and internationally.
- Conduct supplier assessments and site visits for critical vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts, including framework agreements for recurring materials.
- Maintain an approved vendor list and diversify the supply base to reduce risk.
- Issue RFQs/POs aligned to project requirements and site rollout schedules.
- Track orders and resolve delivery delays that could impact project or site timelines.
- Ensure materials meet technical specifications and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering and project teams on delivery timing.
- Monitor market pricing trends and currency impacts on imported materials
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or reliability.
- Forecast material needs with warehouse/Project teams based on the project timeline.
- Maintain adequate stock of critical, long-lead-time items
- Manage import/export documentation and delivery coordination.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain procurement records and vendor performance data
- Prepare sourcing/cost reports for management
- Ensure compliance with procurement policy and relevant HSE standards
- Bachelor\'s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
- 2 - 5 years\' sourcing/procurement experience, preferably in telecom infrastructure
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and analytical skills
- CIPS/CPSM certification (or equivalent)
- Familiarity with the telecom vendor ecosystem
- Experience sourcing for infrastructure projects in challenging or remote environments
- Procurement in telecom is an added advantage
