The News Reporter will be responsible for gathering news, conducting interviews, and developing well-researched stories for publication in Nigerian NewsDirect. Day-to-day activities include identifying newsworthy events, attending press briefings, verifying facts and sources, and writing clear, engaging news articles under tight deadlines. The role also involves collaborating with editors and other reporters to refine stories, prepare press releases when required, and adapt content for both print and online channels. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Ikeja, requiring regular fieldwork within and outside the office. The News Reporter is expected to uphold high ethical standards and maintain accuracy and balance in all reports.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Reporting and Journalism, with the ability to identify, investigate, and present news stories clearly and fairly.
Candidates should possess solid News Writing and Writing skills, including the ability to craft concise, compelling articles suitable for print and digital platforms.
Candidates should possess experience preparing and handling Press Releases, including summarizing key information and aligning messaging with editorial guidelines.
Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to conduct interviews and build reliable sources.
Candidates should be able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
A degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a related field is preferred, along with prior experience in news reporting or media.
Strong ethical judgment, attention to detail, and familiarity with the Nigerian media landscape will be highly beneficial.
