The Mould Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of pen moulds to ensure optimal production performance and product quality. This role involves troubleshooting mould-related issues, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and implementing modifications to enhance mould reliability. The technician works closely with the engineering teams to minimize downtime, drive process improvements, and ensure consistent mould performance in line with operational standards and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pen moulds to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Carry out mould assembly and disassembly for maintenance, cleaning, and repairs.
Conduct troubleshooting of mould-related production issues to minimize downtime
Monitor mould performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation for all mould activities.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve technical issues.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures during maintenance and repair activities.
Support process optimization efforts to improve cycle time and mould output. .
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on mould-related downtime and failures and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurrence.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of Mould structure, components, and operation.
Proficiency in Pen Mould disassembly, assembly, and repair techniques.
Experience with precision tools and measurement instruments (e.g., vernier Calipers, micrometers).
Practical experience in the use of workshop machinery, including Lathe machine (turning, threading, and machining components) Surface grinding machine (precision finishing and dimensional accuracy) and other general workshop tools and equipment
Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum of OND or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Tooling, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of 2 - 5 years of hands-on experience in Pen Mould maintenance, preferably in plastic injection or pen manufacturing.
