The Medical Officer is a full-time, on-site position based at Genesis Specialist Hospital in Ikeja. The role involves providing direct patient care, including clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of medical and surgical conditions under appropriate supervision and in collaboration with consultants and specialists. Daily responsibilities include reviewing inpatients and outpatients, documenting clinical findings, ordering and interpreting investigations, and participating in treatment planning for critical care, surgical, oncology, and pain management cases.
The Medical Officer will assist in surgical procedures as appropriate, support perioperative care, and contribute to multidisciplinary ward rounds and case reviews.
The role also includes educating patients and families, participating in clinical audits and quality improvement activities, and supporting training and mentorship for junior clinical staff where applicable.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Medicine, with clinical competence in general medical practice and exposure to surgical or critical care settings.
Demonstrated skills in Patient Care, including thorough clinical assessment, compassionate communication, and safe, evidence-based management.
Ability to assist in or support Surgery, including preoperative and postoperative care, and collaboration with surgical teams.
Experience Working with Physicians and other healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary environment to coordinate holistic patient care.
Capacity to provide and receive Training, including participation in clinical teaching, continuous professional development, and adherence to hospital protocols.
Recognized medical degree and valid license to practice
Completion of Housemanship and NYSC
Strong documentation skills, familiarity with electronic medical records, and attention to detail in clinical reporting.
Ability to work in a high-acuity environment, manage multiple priorities, and maintain professional conduct during emergencies.
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and on-call duties as required by the hospital's clinical schedule.
