Role Description

  • This is a full-time, on-site Medical Laboratory Technician role based in Ilesa. The Medical Laboratory Technician will perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on patient samples as required.
  • Responsibilities include preparing specimens, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, following established protocols, and documenting results accurately in laboratory records or electronic systems.
  • The role involves supporting clinicians with timely and reliable test results, adhering to safety and infection control standards, participating in quality assurance activities, and assisting in inventory management of reagents and consumables.
  • The technician will collaborate with other clinical staff, provide clear communication regarding test procedures and findings, and contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory services.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Medical Technology and Laboratory Medicine, with the ability to perform and interpret routine diagnostic tests.
  • Practical Laboratory Skills, including specimen collection and handling, reagent preparation, and accurate reporting of results.
  • Experience with Quality Control procedures, including calibration, validation, and documentation to ensure accuracy and reliability of test outcomes.
  • Proficiency in using and maintaining Laboratory Equipment, following safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technician from an accredited institution.
  • Current professional registration or eligibility with appropriate regulatory bodies, as required by local regulations.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to follow standard operating procedures consistently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a clinical team, demonstrate professionalism with patients and colleagues, and maintain confidentiality of medical information.
  • Willingness to work scheduled shifts, adapt to changing workload, and participate in ongoing training and development.
