- The Logistics Controller is responsible to plan, coordinate, and control all logistics operations across petroleum products marketing & supply, refinery operations, waste management, environmental consultancy field ops, pollution control, haulage, and marine services ensuring timely, cost-effective, safe, and compliant movement of products, equipment, materials, personnel, and waste in line with regulators and company HSE policies
Key Responsibilities
Petroleum Products & Haulage Logistics:
- Plan and control daily dispatch of PMS, AGO, DPK, LPG via trucks from depots/refinery to clients
- Track all bridging and interstate product movements, ensuring NMDPRA permits, waybills, and safety compliance
- Optimize truck routing, trip turnaround time, and fuel efficiency
- Liaise with NUPENG/PTD, depots, and security for safe delivery.
Waste Management & Pollution Control Logistics:
- Coordinate logistics for collection, transportation, and disposal of industrial, medical, and domestic waste per NESREA and Lagos/LAWMA regulations
- Ensure use of certified trucks, manifest systems, and chain-of-custody documentation
- Plan emergency response logistics for oil spill/pollution control equipment deployment .
Marine & Environmental Consultancy Logistics:
- Control crew, equipment, and materials movement to marine sites, offshore/onshore locations
- Coordinate with Marine Ops for vessel scheduling, mooring, and bunkering logistics
- Support Environmental Consultancy field teams with sampling kits, lab logistics, and site access.
Fleet, Warehouse & Inventory Control:
- Oversee fleet register, preventive maintenance scheduling with Maintenance team, insurance, roadworthiness
- Monitor GPS/fuel management system, driver behavior, and OTIF delivery performance
- Control inventory of logistics materials: pallets, containers, spill kits, PPE
- Ensure proper warehousing and load planning for hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
Compliance, HSE & Documentation:
- Ensure all movements comply with FRSC, NIMASA, DPR, NMDPRA, NESREA, and ISO 14001 requirements
- Ensure drivers/crew have valid licenses, safety training, and medicals
- Maintain logistics documentation: manifests, permits, delivery notes, trip sheets, GRNs
- Investigate logistics incidents, delays, product losses and implement corrective actions.
Cost, Reporting & Vendor Management:
- Manage logistics budget, diesel costs, transporter rates, demurrage, and third-party logistics spend
- Negotiate and manage 3PL transporters and clearing agents
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports: product delivered vs ordered, trip utilization, fleet downtime, waste volumes moved, cost per litre/kmMaintain logistics documentation: manifests, permits, delivery notes, trip sheets,
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, Business Admin, or Engineering
- 6 - 10 years experience in logistics/transport management, minimum 3 years in Oil & Gas, FMCG, or waste management/logistics intensive environment
- Experience with petroleum products dispatch, haulage operations, and hazardous materials handling is mandatory
- Professional certification: CILT, CIPS, or NIMN is an added advantage
- Proficient in fleet tracking systems, MS Excel, and ERP/logistics software.
