The Legal Officer will provide legal advisory, contractual, regulatory and corporate governance support to the organization while protecting its legal and commercial interests.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review and negotiate contracts and agreements.
Provide legal opinions and advisory support to management.
Conduct legal and regulatory research.
Review corporate policies and documents.
Monitor regulatory developments affecting the organization.
Support corporate governance activities.
Manage legal documentation and records.
Assist with dispute resolution and litigation management.
Liaise with external counsel and regulatory authorities.
Identify legal and contractual risks.
Develop legal risk-mitigation strategies.
Ensure appropriate execution and storage of legal documents.
Requirements
LL.B. Degree.
BL qualification and current eligibility to practice in Nigeria.
2 - 5 years' relevant post-call experience depending on level.
Strong legal drafting and research skills.
Excellent knowledge of corporate/commercial and employment law.
Strong negotiation and analytical abilities.
Professional membership of the Nigerian Bar Association is expected for practising counsel.
Additional certification in corporate governance, compliance, arbitration, mediation or data protection is an advantage.
