The Junior Social Media Manager & Content Creator will support the day-to-day management of the organisation's social media channels and content activities. The role combines social media execution with hands-on content creation, including developing content ideas, creating short-form videos and graphics, writing captions, scheduling posts, engaging with audiences, and monitoring social media performance.
The ideal candidate is creative, digitally savvy, organised, proactive, and able to translate brand topics, products, services, and campaigns into simple, relevant, and engaging platform-native content.
This is an execution-focused role suited to someone looking to build strong experience in social media management, content creation, digital marketing, and digital storytelling.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Manage the day-to-day execution of social media content across relevant platforms.
Develop creative content ideas aligned with the assigned brand's objectives and content pillars.
Create short-form videos, reels, TikTok videos, carousels, stories, graphics, and other social-first content.
Assist with scripting, filming, editing, and packaging social media content.
Write engaging captions, hooks, headlines, scripts, and short-form social copy.
Schedule and publish content according to approved content calendars and brand guidelines.
Monitor social media trends, platform updates, conversations, and relevant cultural moments.
Monitor comments, mentions, tags, and direct messages and respond to routine audience interactions.
Repurpose existing content into formats suitable for different social media platforms.
Support content production for campaigns, events, partnerships, and brand activations.
Track basic social media performance metrics and contribute to weekly and monthly reporting.
Identify content opportunities and use performance insights to recommend improvements.
Escalate sensitive, complex, or specialised enquiries to the appropriate team.
Qualifications
Education
B.Sc./B.A. in Mass Communication, Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field.
Experience
0 - 2 years of hands-on experience in social media management, content creation, digital marketing, media, or a related field.
Internship, freelance, personal brand, creator, student organisation, community, or agency experience will be considered relevant.
Skills & Competencies
Content Creation: Ability to develop and produce engaging social-first content.
Social Media: Good understanding of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms.
Copywriting: Strong short-form writing, caption writing, storytelling, and editing skills.
Video Editing: Basic proficiency with tools such as CapCut, Canva, Adobe Express, or similar platforms.
Creative Thinking: Ability to turn ideas, trends, products, and topics into engaging content.
Trend Awareness: Strong understanding of social media trends and digital culture.
Analytics: Ability to understand basic social media metrics and identify content performance patterns.
Organisation: Ability to manage content schedules, deadlines, assets, and multiple tasks accurately.
Mindset: Creative, proactive, curious, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience running or contributing to a social media page, personal creator account, brand account, student organisation, or community.
Basic graphic design and video editing skills.
Familiarity with Meta Business Suite, TikTok Business tools, Canva, CapCut, Metricool, or similar platforms.
A portfolio of social media, content creation, writing, or other creative work is an advantage.
