Job Summary
As an Inventory Clerk, you are responsible for efficiently managing all materials, tools, and equipment used at the site.
This role ensures proper documentation, storage, issuance, and replenishment of materials to support continuous site operations.
You must maintain accurate inventory records, prevent material loss, and support cost control efforts.
You will work closely with the management, operations, and procurement teams to support a seamless process.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Receive, inspect and record all construction materials, tools, and equipment delivered to the site.
Maintain up-to-date inventory records (manual 7 digital) using inventory management software or Drive.
Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile physical stock with records.
Classify and label materials for easy identification and retrieval.
Monitor material usage and alert Procurement when stock levels are low.
Track and record damaged, expired or obsolete materials
Store Operations:
Organize the storage area to ensure safety, cleanliness, and efficient material handling, distribution & return.
Ensure materials are stored according to manufacturer guidelines (e.g. cement kept dry).
Issue materials to site supervisors based on approved material requisitions through the Material Distribution
Officer.
Maintain daily stock issue and return records.
Supervise loading and unloading of materials to avoid damage or loss.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports for management.
Maintain receipts, waybills, delivery notes, material requisition forms, and other documentation.
Assist in auditing and verification of inventory records by project or finance teams.
Provide data for cost control and material usage analysis.
Coordination:
Liaise with procurement officers for material replenishment and vendor deliveries.
Coordinate with site supervisors to forecast material needs.
Communicate with the accounts department n material valuation and reconciliation.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure adherence to company policies, site safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Maintain security of the store by controlling access and tracking movement of materials.
Report any discrepancies, theft, or irregularities immediately.
Technical & Soft Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office & basic inventory management software.
Strong record keeping & data entry skills.
Integrity & reliability.
Attention to detail & accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a site team.
