Job Summary

  • He will also supervise study hall sessions, some of which hold during school hours, ensuring that all students study effectively and efficiently.
  • Over and above all, every staff of AJC is a role model for the students.
  • The Male Hostel Parent will be responsible for students and everything they do before and after school hours.

Qualifications

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree or any higher degree or qualification, especially in Education, is an advantagewith at least 2 years work experience in a similar role.
  • A University Degree in any field or its equivalent is required.

Personal Qualities:

  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Good command of English Language, good understanding of adolescent psychology
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills, a team player
  • Proficiency in use of Office Suites like Microsoft Word and Power Point.

Job Description The Hostel Parent plays a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and structured "home away from home" for boarding students. They are responsible for the holistic well-being, pastoral care, and discipline of students outside of academic hours, ensuring a supportive environment that promotes character development, academic focus, and healthy community living. Responsibilities Pastoral Care & Well-being: Act as the primary caregiver, monitoring students' physical, emotional, and mental health. Create a warm, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere within the hostel. Routine & Discipline: Enforce the daily boarding schedule, including morning wake-ups, meals, mandatory study hours (prep), inspection routines, and lights-out. Maintain discipline in line with school policies. Health & Hygiene Supervision: Monitor students' personal hygiene, cleanliness of their living spaces, and laundry routines. Coordinate closely with the school clinic/bursary to manage student illnesses, medical appointments, and medication distribution. Safety & Security: Ensure the physical security of the hostel building. Conduct regular roll calls, monitor student movements, manage weekend exeat permits, and respond decisively to emergencies.
