Role Description

  • This is a full-time hybrid role for a Head of Community, based in Lagos. Community is at the heart of what we're building, our platform consolidates a fragmented social betting ecosystem of tipsters, copy-betting, and PvP communities into one place. The Head of Community will own the strategy, growth, and health of our user community across in-app social features and external channels. You'll turn casual users into engaged, loyal members, build and lead a community team, and act as the voice of our users inside the company. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who understands online communities deeply and can balance growth, engagement, and responsible gaming.

What You'll Do

  • Own and execute the end-to-end community strategy across in-app social features, tipster communities, and external channels (Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, X, Instagram, TikTok)
  • Grow an engaged, active community and drive retention, loyalty, and word-of-mouth referral
  • Build, lead, and scale a team of community managers and moderators
  • Define and track community health metrics engagement, sentiment, growth, and retention
  • Design and run community programmes: tipster onboarding, ambassadors, events, competitions, and rewards
  • Establish and enforce community guidelines and moderation standards, protecting users and upholding responsible gaming
  • Act as the voice of the community internally, surfacing user feedback to product, marketing, and leadership
  • Partner with marketing and product to launch features and campaigns that deepen community engagement
  • Manage influencer and tipster relationships that anchor the social experience

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in community management, social media, or growth, with time spent leading a team
  • A track record of building and scaling an engaged online community at meaningful scale
  • Deep understanding of Nigerian social platforms and online culture, especially around sports and betting
  • Strong leadership skills and experience hiring, managing, and developing a team
  • Data-driven approach to community growth, engagement, and retention
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to shape brand voice and tone
  • A genuine instinct for what makes communities thrive, and a commitment to responsible gaming

Nice to Have

  • Experience in sports betting, gaming, fintech, or another high-engagement consumer product
  • Familiarity with copy-betting, tipster, or creator-led community models
  • Experience with community and social tooling (e.g. Discord, Telegram bots, social listening, CRM)
  • Existing network within the Nigerian sports, betting, or creator ecosystem

Requirements Education and Work Experience First degree or Higher National Diploma in Community Development, Sociology, Social Work, Political Science, Public Administration, Mass Communication, Business Administration, Humanities, or a related field. Relevant professional certification or training in Community Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility, Stakeholder Management, Conflict Resolution, Project Management, or related areas will be an added advantage. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, corporate social responsibility, public affairs, social performance, or community development, preferably within manufacturing, cement, mining, construction, or heavy industrial environment. Skills And Competencies Good knowledge of community relations, stakeholder engagement, corporate social responsibility, grievance management, social investment, and community development practices. Strong communication, negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution, report writing, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build trust, manage sensitive community issues, engage diverse stakeholders, and support peaceful coexistence between the company and host communities. Good planning, organizing, monitoring, documentation, and project coordination skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, records management, reporting, presentations, and community engagement documentation. High level of integrity, confidentiality, patience, cultural awareness, professionalism, accountability, and commitment to ethical community engagement.
