The Head of Business (GM) functions much like a Chief Commercial Officer, owning everything that directly drives revenue for the agency. This person sets commercial strategy, owns revenue targets and P&L, and manages the performance of Client Partnership, Account Management, Influencer Marketing, Social Media, Creator Partnership, and Comms toward shared commercial goals.
Hiring, resourcing, and organizational design sit outside this role and are owned by the Chief of Staff.
Key responsibilities
Own the company's P&L, revenue targets, and annual/quarterly commercial planning
Set commercial priorities across sales, client service, and delivery teams, and hold department leads accountable to revenue and performance goals
Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and platforms at a senior level
Identify new revenue streams, service lines, and market opportunities across advertising, creative, influencer, social, and ads marketing
Manage the performance of each department against commercial targets
Represent the business externally in high-stakes negotiations, partnerships, and industry forums
Report business performance, risks, and opportunities to the CEO/Founder and any board or investors
Requirements & qualifications
8+ years in a senior commercial or general management role, ideally within marketing, media, influencer, or creative agencies
Proven track record of owning revenue targets and P&L responsibility
Strong track record managing department-level performance across cross-functional commercial teams
Deep understanding of the influencer marketing, social media, and creator economy landscape
Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and executive communication skills
Data-driven decision-maker comfortable with commercial forecasting and reporting
Nice to have:
Prior experience scaling an agency or media business
Existing network of brand and platform relationships.
