Job Responsibilities
Call over 100% of the previous day's transaction tickets against system postings each morning; raise exceptions immediately.
Conduct surprise till and vault cash counts (at least weekly, and randomly).
Review GL, suspense, and income accounts for unusual entries or ageing items.
Verify new loans disbursed: documentation completeness, approvals within limits, and adherence to credit policy.
Spot-check thrift collectors' remittances against app records; periodically visit routes to confirm customers' balances.
Test operational controls: dual custody, password discipline, mandate verification, cheque handling.
Investigate fraud alerts, shortages and policy breaches; document findings with evidence.
Issue daily/weekly exception reports to the MD and track closure of every finding.
Support external auditors and CBN examiners; follow up on the implementation of their recommendations.
Requirements
Educational Qualification: B.Sc / HND in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics or related field.
Professional Certification: ICAN/ACCA (qualified or part-qualified) or CIA is an advantage; CIBN MCP desirable.
Experience Required: 5 -10 years in internal control, internal audit, or banking operations in a financial institution. Understanding of MFB processes and CBN prudential requirements essential.
