Job Summary
The Manager - Carrier IP & Wholesale Networks is responsible for the planning, design, implementation and evolution of NTEL's Carrier IP, Metro Ethernet and Wholesale Network infrastructure.
The role serves as the technical authority for carrier-grade IP networking, supporting nationwide Layer 2 and Layer 3 wholesale services, Enterprise connectivity, Internet
Transit, Data Centre interconnectivity and Project NOVA. The position ensures that NTEL's IP infrastructure is scalable, resilient, secure and capable of supporting the Company's broadband and wholesale growth strategy.
The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, providing expert guidance on IP architecture, network integration and service delivery while supporting future expansion of the Carrier IP team
Key Responsibilities
Carrier IP Network Engineering
Design, deploy and optimise NTEL's Carrier IP infrastructure.
Develop scalable IP/MPLS and Metro Ethernet architectures.
Plan backbone expansion and IP capacity growth.
Ensure high availability, resilience and redundancy across the IP network.
Develop engineering standards for Carrier IP infrastructure.
Wholesale Network Services
Lead the engineering and delivery of Layer 2 Ethernet Services.
Lead the engineering and delivery of Layer 3 VPN Services.
Lead the engineering and delivery of Metro Ethernet services.
Lead the engineering and delivery of Enterprise Connectivity services.
Lead the engineering and delivery of ISP Connectivity services.
Lead the engineering and delivery of Internet Transit Services.
Lead the engineering and delivery of Carrier Ethernet Services.
Lead the engineering and delivery of Data Centre Interconnect services.
Support commercial development of wholesale broadband services.
Project NOVA Technical Ownership
Serve as technical owner for the IP components of Project NOVA.
Lead Tarana aggregation network design.
Define the IP addressing strategy.
Develop VLAN architecture.
Design QoS requirements.
Support service provisioning.
Ensure high availability.
Support ISP onboarding.
Support wholesale service activation.
Network Architecture & Integration
Develop IP network architecture supporting mobile, enterprise and wholesale services.
Integrate Carrier IP infrastructure with Active Networks, Core Networks and Data Centres.
Support National Roaming integration.
Develop scalable routing and switching architectures.
Ensure network security and segmentation.
Data Centre & Internet Connectivity
Manage Data Centre connectivity architecture.
Design Internet Transit redundancy.
Support peering relationships.
Manage BGP routing policies.
Support Internet Exchange connectivity.
Engineering Standards & Optimisation
Develop engineering standards for Carrier IP infrastructure.
Monitor network performance and utilisation.
Identify capacity constraints.
Recommend network optimisation initiatives.
Support automation and network modernisation.
Vendor & Technical Support
Evaluate Carrier IP technologies and solutions.
Support technical discussions with vendors.
Review technical proposals.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
Support implementation partners during deployment.
Knowledge Transfer & Capability Development
Mentor junior IP engineers.
Develop engineering documentation and standards.
Support technical training initiatives.
Promote engineering best practices.
Build internal Carrier IP capability.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
Professional IP networking certifications are highly desirable.
Minimum of 7 - 10 years' experience in Carrier IP, Transport Networks or Enterprise Networking.
Strong experience designing and implementing IP/MPLS and Metro Ethernet networks.
Experience supporting carrier-grade broadband or wholesale network environments.
Hands-on experience with BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, QoS, VLANs, VRRP and Carrier Ethernet technologies.
Experience with Data Centre networking, Internet Transit and ISP interconnections.
Experience working with Huawei, Cisco, Nokia or Juniper networking platforms.
