Deckhand / Onboard Mechanic At Nigerdock

The Role

The deckhand/onboard mechanic will be responsible for:

• Grease and clean machinery
• Perform simple maintenance tasks
• Load and unload cargo
• Perform other tasks as instructed by the captain

Responsibilities

• Assist the captain in safe vessel operations
• Enforce safety protocols, including life jackets
• Ensure safety of passengers
• Coordinate safe loading and offloading of cargos
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks
• Monitor engine performance and report abnormalities immediately

Requirements

• Minimum secondary school certificate
• Valid STCW and MEA certificate
• 1-3 years' experience in marine operations preferred
• Proven skills in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining marine engines
• Basic first aid and fire safety training is an advantage
• Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
