Reports To: Head of Legal
- The Compliance Specialist supports the implementation and monitoring of DPRP's compliance framework, ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- The role focuses on identifying compliance risks, supporting policy development, and ensuring timely regulatory filings and reporting.
- The position works closely with the Compliance Lead, General Counsel, and Company Secretary to promote effective governance, mitigate regulatory risks, and maintain a strong compliance culture across the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of DPRP's compliance and corporate governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Assist in developing and reviewing corporate policies, compliance manuals, and codes of ethics to ensure clarity and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct research and comparative analysis of corporate governance frameworks and regulatory developments to inform policy updates and compliance strategies.
- Monitor compliance across business units and identify gaps, breaches, or areas of risk, escalating critical issues to the Compliance Lead for resolution.
- Support the coordination and implementation of new regulatory requirements, ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are established across the organization.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of compliance programs and controls within business units.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory, legislative, and policy requirements and support the organization's response to compliance obligations.
- Support alignment of DPRP's compliance activities with Group policies and overall governance standards.
- Assist in managing statutory filings, regulatory submissions, and maintenance of statutory records and registers to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain and update compliance databases, records, and reporting systems to support tracking, monitoring, and audit readiness.
- Prepare periodic reports on compliance status, policy implementation, and regulatory matters for review by the Compliance Lead.
- Support the implementation of compliance-related advice and directives issued by the Compliance Lead, General Counsel, and Company Secretary.
- Provide support on compliance-related matters, including handling assigned legal and regulatory tasks under supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Compliance Lead, General Counsel, or Company Secretary.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B).
- Barrister-at-Law (B.L.) and qualification to practice in Nigeria.
- A relevant postgraduate degree (e.g., LL.M) is an added advantage.
Professional Qualification:
- Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is required.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) or compliance-related certifications) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years' post-qualification experience in legal, compliance, or corporate governance roles.
- Practical experience in compliance monitoring, regulatory engagement, and policy implementation.
- Experience in a manufacturing, energy, or multinational environment is preferred.

- Strong knowledge of corporate governance frameworks, compliance principles, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Good understanding of industry-specific regulations, particularly within a manufacturing or energy environment.

- Knowledge of statutory obligations, regulatory bodies, and compliance requirements within Nigeria.
- Experience in compliance monitoring, auditing, and review of business processes.
- Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and internal policies to business operations.
- Strong research and analytical skills for regulatory and policy-related matters. h. Familiarity with compliance reporting, documentation, and record-keeping requirements.
- Working knowledge of dispute resolution processes, including litigation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and compliance tracking systems.
