The CFO will serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, providing forward-looking financial insight that supports sustainable growth, investment decisions, operational performance, and long-term value creation. The role will also lead the organization's financial planning, reporting, treasury, controls, risk management, and relationships with financial institutions, investors, auditors, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for the Finance function, ensuring that financial strategy, planning, and performance are aligned with the organization's growth and expansion objectives.
Lead the development and execution of short- and long-term financial strategies, budgets, forecasts, and financial objectives.
Evaluate financial performance against operational goals, budgets, forecasts, and long-term business objectives, providing actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
Partner with the CEO and senior leadership team on strategic initiatives, business expansion, acquisitions, investments, and other major capital allocation decisions.
Lead treasury and cash management activities, ensuring effective liquidity planning, availability of funds, investment management, and financial risk management.
Oversee banking relationships and maintain strategic relationships with financial institutions, investors, vendors, business partners, government agencies, consultants, and other external stakeholders.
Oversee financial reporting, ensuring timely, accurate, and reliable weekly, monthly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
Establish and maintain robust accounting policies, financial procedures, internal controls, approval authorities, and governance frameworks.
Lead the annual budgeting process and oversee financial planning and analysis, including business-unit profitability, budget versus actual performance, forecasts, and cash-flow reporting.
Provide executive-level financial analysis and recommendations to support business performance, investment decisions, growth opportunities, and risk mitigation.
Oversee tax compliance, statutory financial obligations, external audits, and engagement with auditors and relevant regulatory authorities.
Identify, assess, and mitigate key financial and business risks while maintaining appropriate risk exposure across the organization's financial activities.
Oversee Accounts Receivable management and provide strategic direction on collections and working-capital optimization.
Represent the organization in engagements with banks, financial partners, investors, auditors, statutory agencies, and other strategic stakeholders.
Ensure continuous improvement of finance systems, databases, financial processes, controls, and reporting capabilities.
Provide leadership and direction to the Finance team, building a high-performing function capable of supporting the organization's strategic and commercial objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, or a related finance discipline.
A Master's degree in a finance-related discipline will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 15 years' cognate experience in corporate finance, treasury management, investment banking, or a closely related field.
At least 3 years' experience in a senior managerial or executive finance leadership role is an added advantage.
Membership of a relevant professional body such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, or an equivalent recognized professional qualification is required.
Strong understanding of corporate finance, treasury management, financial planning and analysis, investment management, financial controls, audit, compliance, and risk management.
Strong commercial understanding of the indigenous oil & gas industry and logistics industry/value chain.
Experience leading financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, investment decisions, and executive-level financial reporting.
Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with financial institutions, auditors, statutory agencies, investors, and senior stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of internal controls, audit, compliance, and financial governance.
Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) is an advantage.
Excellent analytical, decision-making, negotiation, relationship management, and communication skills.
High level of commercial acumen, adaptability, attention to detail, entrepreneurial thinking, and service orientation.
