We are seeking a vigilant, responsible, and security-conscious Bag Scanner Operator to join our hotel security team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for screening guests, staff, visitors, and their belongings at designated entry points using the hotel's baggage scanning equipment.
The role requires a high level of attention to detail, integrity, alertness, and professionalism to help prevent prohibited or dangerous items from entering the hotel while maintaining a welcoming experience for guests.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor the hotel's baggage and X-ray scanning equipment at designated access points.
Screen bags, luggage, parcels, and other items entering and leaving the hotel premises.
Identify suspicious, prohibited, or potentially dangerous items during the screening process.
Refer suspicious bags or items to the appropriate Security Supervisor for
further inspection in accordance with hotel procedures.
Maintain strict control of staff, guest, contractor, and visitor access through designated screening points.
Ensure that all persons and items passing through the screening area comply with the hotel's security procedures.
Remain alert to unusual behaviour, suspicious activities, or security concerns and report them promptly.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, suspicious items, and other relevant security activities.
Conduct screening professionally while respecting the privacy, dignity, and personal belongings of guests and staff.
Work closely with Security Officers, Front Office personnel, and other departments to maintain a safe and secure hotel environment.
Respond appropriately to security alerts, emergencies, and suspicious packages in line with established procedures.
Keep the scanning area clean, orderly, and free from unnecessary obstruction.
Report equipment faults or
technical problems to the Security Supervisor or relevant department immediately.
Follow all hotel security policies, standard operating procedures, and health and safety requirements.
Perform other security-related duties as assigned by the Security Supervisor or Chief Security Officer.Requirements
Requirements
Minimum of an SSCE/WAEC/NECO or equivalent qualification.
Previous experience in security screening, access control, hotel security, aviation security, or a similar role is an added advantage.
Experience operating an X-ray baggage scanner or similar screening equipment is preferred.
Must be physically fit, alert, and observant.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Must demonstrate honesty, integrity, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with guests, staff, and visitors.
Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and during busy hotel periods.
Basic knowledge of security procedures and emergency response is an advantage of the hotel will be an added advantage.
