The AHU (Air Handling Unit) & AC Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing central HVAC systems, Air Handling Units, split units, and industrial refrigeration equipment across plant and facility operations.
The role ensures precise climate control, temperature/humidity regulation, air filtration, and optimal system efficiency in compliance with safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Routine & Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled servicing, inspections, and cleaning of Air Handling Units (AHUs), air conditioning systems, compressors, condenser coils, evaporators, and ductwork.
Filter & Airflow Management: Inspect, clean, and replace pre-filters, medium filters, and HEPA filters to maintain air quality, proper change rates, and differential pressure.
Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration faults in AC units and AHUs. Replace defective components such as fan motors, belts, thermostats, valves, and control sensors.
Refrigerant & System Servicing: Check refrigerant levels, test for gas leaks, flush lines, and recharge refrigerants following safety and environmental regulations.
System Monitoring: Monitor temperature, humidity, and airflow levels in designated operational zones or production floors to ensure consistent environmental conditions.
Documentation & Safety: Log maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage. Maintain strictly safe working practices, including proper handling of tools and adherence to EHS/PPE standards.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Technical Diploma (OND/HND), Vocational Trade Test (Grade 1/2), or Certification in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.
Experience: 2 - 5 years of practical experience working with AHUs, HVAC systems, and industrial AC units (preferably in a manufacturing, plant, or commercial facility context).
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, single/three-phase electrical connections, ductwork, and control panels.
Core Competencies: Problem-solving ability, capacity to read electrical/mechanical schematics, and physical fitness to handle field maintenance work.
