Job Summary

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and responsible Accountant to manage the company's day-to-day financial records, transactions, reconciliations, reporting, and accounting documentation.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations Manager, Branch Managers, and Management to ensure accurate financial records, proper cash management, inventory reconciliation, and timely financial reporting across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all company financial transactions.
  • Record daily sales, expenses, purchases, payments, and receipts.
  • Reconcile daily sales and cash collections across branches.
  • Monitor bank transactions and perform regular bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for Management.
  • Track accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Monitor outstanding customer payments and supplier obligations.
  • Support payroll preparation and payment schedules.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Reconcile inventory records with sales and stock reports.
  • Identify and report financial discrepancies, unusual transactions, or variances.
  • Monitor branch expenses against approved budgets.
  • Assist with budgeting, cash-flow monitoring, and financial planning.
  • Ensure proper filing and maintenance of accounting records and supporting documents.
  • Support tax, statutory, audit, and other compliance requirements.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to improve financial controls and reduce revenue leakage.
  • Provide financial information and reports required by Management for decision-making.
  • Perform other accounting duties assigned by Management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance will be measured based on:

  • Accuracy of financial records and reports.
  • Timely submission of weekly and monthly financial reports.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of bank and cash reconciliations.
  • Accuracy of branch sales and cash reconciliation.
  • Reduction and timely resolution of financial discrepancies.
  • Effective monitoring of receivables and payables.
  • Compliance with approved budgets and financial controls.
  • Accuracy of inventory and financial records.
  • Proper documentation and filing of financial transactions.
  • Timely support for payroll, tax, audit, and statutory requirements.

Requirements

  • OND, HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in retail, consumer electronics, trading, or a multi-branch business.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with bank, cash, sales, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and investigate financial variances.
  • Strong integrity and confidentiality in handling financial information.
  • Ability to work independently and meet reporting deadlines.
