Summary
The Chief Accountant will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, general ledger integrity, reconciliations, fixed assets, and transaction controls across the group.
The role will ensure accurate and timely postings, strong documentation, and reliable financial records while supporting the Financial Controller during month-end close and audits.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee accounting entries for sales, expenses, accruals, prepayments, and journals, ensuring proper approvals and supporting documentation.
Maintain general ledger integrity, including accurate coding, timely postings, and resolution of suspense items.
Execute and supervise ke bank, clearing account, payment gateway, and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items.
Maintain accurate balance sheet schedules, working papers, and audit trails.
Manage the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
Support month-end close by preparing trial balance schedules, journal packs, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Ensure proper revenue and expense cut-offs in coordination with AR, AP, and business units.
Strengthen accounting processes, documentation, controls, and posting discipline.
Work with Tech/Data to improve automation, reduce manual errors, and resolve system-related accounting issues.
Support Internal Control reviews and ensure timely resolution of accounting-related findings.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent strongly preferred; part-qualified candidates may be considered based on experience.
10+ years' experience in accounting operations, including journals, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
Experience in retail, e-commerce, distribution, or other high-volume environmentsis an advantage.
Experience with ERP/accounting systems, spreadsheets, payment gateways, and POS reconciliations.
Strong knowledge ofaccruals, prepayments, cut-offs, fixed assets, and financial controls.
Strong attention to detail, organisation, ownership, and ability to work under pressure.
High level of confidentiality, documentation discipline, and audit readiness.
Working Conditions:
Full-time hybrid role with occasional travel.
Peak workload occurs duringmonth-end close and audit periods.
