Overview

  • As the Access Control Officer, you will be responsible for protecting personnel, facilities, assets, information, and operations by controlling and monitoring the movement of employees, contractors, visitors, vendors, vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials into, within, and out of company locations.
  • The role supports oilfield service and energy operations by enforcing site access procedures, visitor management requirements, HSE rules, emergency response protocols, asset movement controls, and security reporting standards expected in client-facing environments like ours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage access control points by verifying employee IDs, contractor badges, visitor passes, vendor documentation, vehicle authorization, and approved access lists before allowing entry.
  • Log all visitors, vendors, contractors, deliveries, vehicles, and material movements accurately, including time in/out, host approval, purpose of visit, badge number, vehicle details, and any escorts required.
  • Issue, recover, activate, suspend, and account for access cards, temporary badges, visitor tags, keys, and other access credentials strictly in line with approved procedures.
  • Prevent unauthorized access, tailgating, badge misuse, security rule violations, and movement into restricted or high-risk operational areas.
  • Monitor access control systems, CCTV, alarms, intercoms, gate barriers, security dashboards, and other site security equipment, escalating faults or abnormal events immediately.
  • Respond promptly to door-held-open alarms, forced-entry alerts, duress alarms, suspicious activity, security breaches, emergency situations, and client/site security instructions.
  • Conduct authorized checks of vehicles, bags, tools, equipment, materials, and deliveries entering or leaving the facility while respecting company policy, safety requirements, and applicable law.
  • Verify Material Manifest Reports, gate passes, delivery notes, dispatch approvals, asset transfer forms, and other approved documents before permitting movement of company or client property.
  • Support diesel receipt and dispatch control by confirming authorization, recording quantities, observing safe transfer practices, preventing unauthorized access, and reporting spills, leaks, shortages, or discrepancies
  • Enforce HSE and life-saving rules at access points, including PPE compliance, vehicle speed controls, emergency muster support, no-smoking requirements, and safe entry into operational areas.
  • Prepare clear shift handover notes, daily occurrence reports, incident reports, access logs, equipment fault reports, and exception reports before the end of duty.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee, contractor, visitor, client, and operational information, and process personal data in accordance with NDPA 2023 and company data protection requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, respect, vigilance, integrity, and customer service discipline when dealing with personnel, clients, regulators, contractors, and visitors.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of access control systems, CCTV, Microsoft Office applications, and report writing is desirable.
  • HSE awareness, emergency response support, and site rule enforcement
  • Security observation, vigilance, and incident escalation
  • Basic computer literacy, report writing, and professional communication
  • CCTV, alarm monitoring, gatehouse operations, and badge administration
  • Minimum of OND or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in oil and gas, energy, manufacturing, logistics, warehouse, construction, facility management, or other high-risk operational environments is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with CCTV monitoring, access control software, alarm response, radio communication, emergency drills, and basic Microsoft Office applications is desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of visitor control, contractor access, incident reporting, badge control, vehicle checks, material movement documentation, and shift handover reporting.

Contribute regularly to safety management and personal safety meetings with teams. Carry out safety briefings for new employees and visitors. Participate in the organisation of training courses in accordance with the Country Office training plan, in conjunction with the Logistics and Human Resources departments. Liaison / Coordination: In coordination with the Field Coordinator, establish good / effective relations with the authorities. Support the establishment of good relations with communities and local leaders. Organise community awareness sessions on the context and ACF's work whenever requested or necessary by the programme teams. Coordinate/follow up with the relevant ministry (government department concerned), in case of problems. Obtain the necessary administrative authorisations for team movements. Deal with the police/communities/tribal chiefs in the event of an accident.
