What's the difference between a review cycle, probation, and a PIP?

A review cycle is recurring and applies to everyone, ending in a score or rating. Probation is one time, only for new hires, and ends in pass, extend, or fail, with pass triggering real compensation and benefits eligibility. A PIP is ad hoc, only for someone genuinely underperforming, and ends in improved, needs extension, or terminated.
