Open Organization Chart in the sidebar (under Personal). The Organization chart is a visual view of your company's reporting hierarchy: who reports to whom, from leadership down through managers and their direct reports. It requires the Org Chart capability, which is included on Basic/Starter and above and in Careersome Light.
What you can do
- Explore the hierarchy as an interactive tree of employees and their reporting lines
- Search for a specific person
- Filter by department
- Open a person's detail panel to see more about them
- Export the chart as a PNG image
Editing reporting lines The chart is read-only for most roles, but Admin and HR can reassign a person's reporting manager directly from the chart. Changing a manager here updates that employee's reporting line across the product (for example, it affects who approves their time off and whose team dashboards they appear on). Managers and Employees view the chart without editing.
Where reporting lines come from An employee's manager is set when they are invited or edited in team management, and can be adjusted from the org chart by Admin/HR. New hires are placed into the chart using the reporting manager chosen at invitation time.
Good practice
- Keep reporting lines accurate, since manager-scoped features (approvals, team views, team reports) all depend on them
- Use the department filter and search on larger organizations
- Export a PNG when you need to share the structure outside the app
