Summary

  • The Head of Stores is responsible for the effective management of all warehouse and inventory operations, ensuring accurate stock control, timely issuance of materials, proper documentation, and compliance with company policies and safety standards.
  • The role ensures availability of materials to support operations while minimizing stock variances and optimizing inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the store/warehouse including receipts, storage, issuance, and dispatch of materials.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records in the ERP/store management system.
  • Liaising with finance department for periodic physical verification for stock taking, reconciliation and documentation
  • Ensure proper storage conditions, labelling, and arrangement of materials for easy identification and safety.
  • Implement and enforce inventory control procedures to reduce stock loss, damage, and expiries.
  • Monitor reorder levels and coordinate with procurement for timely replenishment of inventory.
  • Manage and supervise store officers, storekeepers, and warehouse assistants.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards, security protocols, and company policies.
  • Coordinate logistics activities including receiving, inspection, and dispatch of goods.
  • Ensure proper documentation for inward and outward stock transactions (GRN, Issue Vouchers, Return Notes, etc.).
  • Track and report ageing/slow-moving stock and recommend disposal or corrective actions.
  • Support internal and external audits and provide necessary documentation.
  • Continuously improve warehouse layouts, processes, and systems to enhance efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in warehouse/store operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, etc.).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and numeracy skills.
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific materials (if applicable).

Minimum of 10 - 20 years' post-qualification experience in storekeeping, inventory control, or logistics within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency in inventory software and Microsoft Excel. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Physical stamina for lifting and moving materials.
