Job Summary

  • The Cost & Inventory Accountant is responsible for monitoring, analysing, and reporting cost and inventory movements across production, central kitchen/ bakery, warehouse, and outlets.
  • This role ensures accurate recording of raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods, and wastage, while supporting cost control initiatives and ensuring compliance with internal processes for a fast-moving confectionery and QSR operation.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management & Reporting:

  • Track inventory levels of raw materials, packaging, and finished products across factory, warehouse, and outlets.
  • Conduct regular stock counts (daily/weekly/monthly) and reconcile variances with store, production, and outlet teams.
  • Monitor and report daily product dispatches, returns, spoilages, and transfers.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure FIFO/FEFO compliance.

Cost Accounting & Analysis:

  • Maintain cost sheets and update standard recipes/BOMs for all menu items.
  • Track production yield, ingredient usage, and variances vs standard recipes.
  • Analyse production cost, labour cost, and overhead absorption to determine accurate unit costs.
  • Monitor wastage, over-portioning, shrinkage, and recommend cost-saving measures.

Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory & cost reports for management.
  • Assist in month-end closing activities relating to stock valuation and COGS.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate cost/inventory data.
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs, hygiene standards, and financial controls.

Operational Collaboration:

  • Work closely with production, supply chain, procurement, finance, and outlet teams.
  • Support procurement with price monitoring and supplier cost analysis.
  • Train outlet/store staff on documentation, stock controls, and inventory systems.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc Degree / HND qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2 - 4 years relevant experience in QSR, bakery / confectionery, FMCG, manufacturing, or retail environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with POS, ERP, inventory or accounting software.
  • Professional certification (ICAN/ACCA) is an advantage.
