    A science laboratory technician is a laboratory employee who assists and provides technical support to a scientist carrying out scientific investigations. Science laboratory technicians work under the supervision of scientists to collect and process experiment specimens, perform and analyze experiments, and write experiment reports.

    A science laboratory technician should be analytical, attentive and observant, and have good knowledge of laboratory techniques and equipment. They should also be precise and safety-conscious, and ensure that all laboratory chemicals and samples are properly labeled, preserved, and utilized.

    Science laboratory technicians usually work normal office hours, but may sometimes work overtime to complete long-running experiments. They work indoors in laboratories at academic and research institutions.

Proper care must be taken when handling such substances to prevent lab accidents and contaminations. They are required to wear personal protective equipments such as goggles, gloves, and lab coats when working.
