    Postpartum Support Network Africa is Communication Coordinator in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.

    Duration of Assignment: 12 months (with a possibility of extension)

    Duties and responsibilities

    The Communication Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of the organization’s strategic communications program designed to build and strengthen the organization’s role and reputation. The communications coordinator will be responsible for the day to day implementation of communications programs, media activities and special events.

    The Communication coordinator carries out his/her functions under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director.

    Specifically, the incumbent will:

    • Oversee day to day operations of communications programs and strategies
    • Identify opportunities to support organizational initiatives and develop communications materials and programs to promote and publicize these activities.
    • Aid in the development, implementation and management of external and internal communications efforts.
    • Work closely with communications consultants, the new media team and other team members to implement media strategies
    • Coordinate planning of meetings, events and initiate communication activities
    • Build and foster long-term working relationships with various stakeholders including the media, members of the community, public affairs offices and other organizations
    • Manage stakeholder database
    • Respond to media requests for information and facilitate media interviews with spokespeople, team members and others.
    • Facilitate media training sessions
    • Responsible for internal communications and knowledge management
    • Work with the programs team to coordinate and draft documents and other visibility materials
    • Coordinate development of graphic designs, news releases, news materials, fact sheets, success stories and talking points for publicity of the organization’s programs.
    • Manage key recruitment in the communications unit
    • Fulfil other duties as assigned

    COMPETENCIES

    1. Professionalism: Demonstrated ability to manage processes and implement communication strategies. Ability to work independently and to maintain flexibility in working hours.
    2. Planning and Organising: Demonstrated effective organisational skills and ability to handle work in an efficient and timely manner. Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks to meet deadlines.
    3. Teamwork: Good interpersonal skills; ability to work with remote teams and a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with counterparts.
    4. Communication: Excellent writing, editing and interpersonal communications skills. Fluency across all social media platforms, innovative, globally minded, speedy and tech savvy

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: University degree in communications, journalism, international affairs, sociology, social sciences or other related fields.

    Work experience: At least 2 years of post NYSC experience in communication for development. Experience working with an NGO will be an added advantage

    Language Proficiency: Fluency in written and spoken English and any other Nigerian Language

    Other skills: Computer literacy (Microsoft Application, G Suite); Familiarity with the World Global Goals and International Development regulations are regarded as an asset.
