Fashion Model Job Description

A fashion model is someone whose job is to wear clothes or demonstrate merchandise to promote them to fashion buyers and customers. Fashion models spend much of their time at go-sees with clients, and they usually work with agents, who provide links between them and their clients.

A fashion model should be confident, patient, adaptable, attractive and photogenic, and have the ability to look after their appearance and stay good-looking. They should also be physically fit and strong mentally and in character to persist and persevere in there modeling career.

Pursue a career in modeling if you are a photogenic person who has strong interest in fashion and enjoys posing in front of people and the camera.

Working Conditions

Fashion models may work long and irregular hours including evenings, late nights, weekends and public holidays. They work in photographic and video recording studios, commercial showrooms, retail stores and fashion show venues. They may travel for work and be away from home a period of time.

There are no educational requirements to become a fashion model. Employers will prefer to hire candidates with an attractive physique and good facial features. Some employers may also require candidates to be within a certain height and age.
